Durable Mega Coils and heat path
This 22" deep kiln features four oversized, heavy-gauge Mega Coils that extend outside the brick and connect to a color-coded wiring system—leading to a power block and then to the power cord. The larger coil diameter and added element material help the coils last longer, delivering extended service life. Internal wiring uses 8 color-coded element tails that uncouple for stress-free coil changes, which can be accomplished in about 10 minutes by the user.
Advanced control with precise firing
A stand-alone controller in a wall-mount enclosure sits near the kiln to minimize heat exposure to internal components. The Orton AutoFire Digital 12-button controller provides cone fire schedules with slow, medium, and fast options, plus 9 user programs for custom firing schedules. It uses a 60-amp mercury relay and an 8-gauge thermocouple inserted into the kiln to register temperature during firing. The controller offers accurate temperature display throughout firing, automatic heat-work adjustments, and automatically determined final firing temperatures based on actual kiln performance; it can even calculate the cost of each firing.
Maintenance-friendly design and coil replacement
Jen-Ken designed these kilns for quick coil changes without requiring a technician. When needed, you can replace a Mega Coil in about 10 minutes. The interior features 8 color-coded element tails and stress-free wiring that uncouples easily for service and coil replacement.
Longevity and performance advantages
