Jen-Ken’s approach extends the traditional 3" brick kiln by adding one oversized Mega coil to each full brick. The larger coil diameter and extra element material focus heat where it’s needed, improving firing consistency and extending coil life. As kilns scale, more of these large Mega Coils can be installed to sustain performance and longevity.
Control system and firing options
The stand-alone controller sits in a wall-mount enclosure near the kiln to protect electronics from heat. It supports full cone firing schedules with slow, medium, and fast options and includes 9 user programs for custom firings. The Orton controller provides cone-fire schedules alongside programmable profiles, while a 60-amp mercury relay ensures durable switching. An 8-gauge thermocouple placed inside the kiln monitors temperature throughout firing, so you always know where you are in the cycle.
Easy coil replacement and practical design
Designed for quick maintenance, you can replace a coil in about 10 minutes without a technician. The 31" deep kiln houses six Mega Coils that route outside the unit to a color-coded wiring system, connecting to a power block and the power cord. It plugs into a Digital 12-button remote controller mounted near the kiln, keeping firing data and control within easy reach. The temperature is displayed throughout firing for precise monitoring.
