Introducing the Mega Coil Series—the Jen-Ken Mega Coil Kiln Line for pottery and ceramics that can do it all. Built for busy studios or individual artists, these Mega Coils are designed for ease of operation and maintenance, delivering reliable heat with fewer interruptions.

This 22" deep kiln uses four oversized, heavy-gauge Mega Coils that extend outside the brick and connect via color-coded wiring to a power block and the power cord. The larger coil diameter and increased element material extend coil life, so you can fire longer between coil replacements.

The standalone controller arrives in a wall-mount enclosure positioned near the kiln to stay cooler and prolong internal component life. It provides full cone firing settings with slow, medium, and fast options, plus nine user programs for custom firing schedules. A 60-amp mercury relay is included to maximize longevity. An 8-gauge thermocouple is inserted into the kiln to accurately monitor temperature during firings.

Designed for busy studios, coil changes are user-friendly: a coil can be swapped in roughly 10 minutes without external help. Internally, wiring uses eight color-coded element tails, and connections are designed to uncouple easily for stress-free maintenance when changing coils.

The kiln plugs directly into the Orton AutoFire Digital 12-button controller. Even as the kiln ages, accurate temperature display and automatic heat-work adjustments, plus predetermined final firing temperatures based on actual performance, help ensure consistent results. The controller can also calculate firing costs.

Our Mega Coils are engineered for longer life, offering an estimated 10–15 years of extended firing life compared with other kilns of similar size on the market.

This kiln ships with free accessories: lid lifter, stand, manual, and a Solid State Relay—an efficient, fast-switching alternative to mechanical relays that supports tighter temperature control and longer element life.
