Jen-Ken AFG ProFusion 38 Deep Glass Kiln
Designed to handle larger fused-glass projects, the ProFusion 38 Deep offers ample interior space and a thoughtful, user-friendly design that supports busy studios and teaching environments.
Interior size and practical capacity
Interior dimensions: 26" wide × 38" long × 16" deep. This generous chamber accommodates larger pieces and provides room for multiple items during a single firing.
Heat delivery and construction
The top section uses rigid fiber insulation with the elements encased in quartz tubes. The tubes hang just below the lid to emit maximum radiant heat, delivering consistent, thorough heat to your glass.
Included stand, shelves and accessories
- Integrated stand with casters
- 25" × 37" × 1" fiber shelf
- 15" × 21" rectangle clay shelf
- 8 short kiln posts
- Bag of kiln wash
Loading height and lid design
The stand places the kiln floor at about 34" high, making loading easy and comfortable without bending over to place shelves or glass projects. The lid is a spring-assisted clamshell design, providing an exceptionally light feel for a kiln of this size.
Interior durability and fiber advantages
The floor is built from individual kiln bricks that are not cemented together, allowing quick replacement if needed. A 25" × 37" × 1" fiber shelf is included, made from the same rigid fiber material as the kiln. When this fiber shelf lies flat on the kiln floor, the interior becomes an all-fiber environment, enabling fast, seam-free fusing of glass.
Fiber shelf performance and cycle efficiency
Fusing glass on a fiber shelf can heat and fuse more quickly, reducing thermal lag caused by brick. This design supports rapid heating and cooling, and two firings per day are achievable for a busy studio. In teaching settings, the kiln can come back to near room temperature by the next morning.
Control system and reliability
The controller is separate from the kiln, eliminating heat transfer issues and allowing mounting on the side of the kiln at eye level with tilt or wall-mount options. A Solid State Relay is used for precise, fast power cycling, delivering tight temperature control, longer element life, and energy savings compared with traditional mechanical relays.
Controller options and compatibility
Jen-Ken maintains partnerships with digital controller manufacturers, offering compatibility with controllers from SDS Industries and Orton, ensuring access to robust control features tailored to kiln firing needs.
